I used Home and business product key, Which actually isn't a volume licence it's just a full blown version not the Product Key Card that are only good for 1 install on 1 PC and then the license is dead. That should be fine in your situation too.īut if you used a volume license, wouldn't that have been for Office 2010 Professional? If I put Office 2010 Pro in the image, wouldn't my Office 2010 Home and Business product keys fail to activate it? (Or am I misunderstanding?)

But then again, maybe it will just automatically ask for a key after the trial is over. It might work for the first couple of months only. If you were to use the trial on your image instead of the preinstall kit, I would be curious to know what happens after the 60 days are up for your trial. I purchased the 2007 version of this through CDW years ago, but I can't confirm that they were supposed to sell it to me. It certainly does appear that you have to sign up as a MS Partner for this download. Would I be able to sign up for this, or is this limited to certain types of companies?
This site seems to indicate that only Microsoft Partner Network members can download the OEM preinstall kit. Granted, I haven't tried it myself, but it works for system builders, why wouldn't it work the same for you? Http:/ / oem/ en/ installation/ downloads/ Pages/ office_2010_opk.aspx#fbid=qSYmc3mLiuG I don't get why you couldn't use the OEM preinstall kit?
Note: Make sure when you install office before you image to un-check the box to active the product (On the screen that you type in the product key). When the image boots on the new computer for the first time when you open office it will prompt for a new key. Then you can edit out the product key information from registry in the image.įor 64-bit the key is located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Registration all you need to do is delete the whole "Registration" key or rename it to "Registration.old" I just renamed mine.įor 32-bit the key is located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Registration You would need at least 1 volume license as Justin said. However this would work somewhat like windows does. I actually just got done creating some images. This would only be possible if you were using a volume license version
